Therapy in peaceful surroundings in Devon

Tracey Langrill

PGDip (Psych) MSc MBACP

& Merlin 🐾

Based in Devon, I offer warm and welcoming in-person or online counselling services for adults and children 12+, with optional animal assisted therapy

Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, with so many different skills and approaches to choose from. But maybe what you're seeking is simply someone you can trust, who'll listen without judgment and provide genuine support. That's the heart of what I do.

I bring a calm, thoughtful and unpretentious approach to counselling; whether you've had counselling before or if you're unsure of what to expect, that's okay as I'll always go at your pace.  My dog (Merlin) often joins sessions, subject to your approval, offering a level of comfort and grounding in the way only animals can. He enjoys his work as much as I do.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and am qualified in Integrative Counselling and Animal Assisted Therapy.   Read more about my qualifications here.

My former career as a military officer means that I  bring a calm, clear-minded logic to counselling, which I combine with natural compassion, warmth and empathy.

Veteran, Serving or Blue Light ?

Perhaps you're currently serving, ex-forces or with Blue Light services and unsure about the whole counselling thing?  I was unsure once and I still remember how daunting it can feel.  With 17 years experience in the military, I can empathise with many of the challenges you've faced with a shared understanding of your experiences. Give it a chance perhaps?

My background gives me a unique perspective on resilience and adaptation, and my experience working with a wide range of clients means I can tailor my approach to what works for you personally.  Find out more here.

I believe the most important factor in helping you move forward is the relationship we build together. It's essential that you feel comfortable working with me, and I work hard to ensure that.

With experience working with adults, university students, and children (12+), I'm able to develop strong connections with people from all walks of life. No matter your background, you’ll be met with warmth, respect, and a non-judgmental space where you can speak openly. Read about services here.

Animal Assisted Therapy

Animals have a unique ability to connect with people and Merlin, my 8-year-old Labrador, can be a great asset in sessions, especially for individuals facing challenges they may find difficult to discuss. There's increasing evidence to support the positive effects animals can bring to assist in therapy.  Read more

Merlin has grown up in a busy family with young children and loves everyone he meets. His patience, acceptance and affection can be especially impactful for children and neurodivergent clients, though any clients can benefit from his presence.  He is also a registered 'Pets As Therapy' dog.
